Note about recent accusations on Reddit
involving Michelle Lindsay
On March 31st, some accusations appeared on Reddit r/halifax, about an interaction between a homeowner and a lady in a red Subaru Crosstrek. The story mentioned a woman entering a Liberal supporter’s driveway in a vehicle in Eastern Passage, taking photos of Liberal signs, and then spitting at or near the homeowner.
The claims that this was PPC candidate Michelle Lindsay are completely baseless and fabricated. Michelle was no where near Eastern Passage at any time Sunday 30th or Monday 31st, nor has she yet campaigned or delivered signs in this area. Furthermore, she does not drive a Subaru Crosstek nor any Subaru vehicle. Also, no one from her campaign was driving there recently. Her campaign has heard nothing from Halifax Police, so the claim of “the police are aware and have been able to corroborate with it being her” is apparently false, and not founded on any fact or evidence. There is no “police report”, because any such investigation would involve police reaching out to Michelle’s campaign. Michelle is a respected member of the community, and has always been respectful of others’ differing political perspectives.
Its possible some woman in a red Subaru was involved in some interaction in Eastern Passage, but it was not Michelle Lindsay.
We also reached out the local returning officer for Dartmouth-Cole Harbour of Elections Canada, and no such report was provided to them.
These are fabricated, ridiculous, and defamatory claims by someone wanting to hurt someone else’s reputation. During Federal Elections, it is important for voters to respect one another’s views and perspectives on how to improve and govern Canada. Voters should also appreciate and respect various candidates’ decisions to run for office, and participate in our democratic process, and realize it is a very difficult task.
